Weiterspiel Token

Weiterspiel token, nickel-plated steel, 26.7/1.7 mm, approximately 6.0 grams. Token for amusement, arcade or gaming machines, Germany. Weiterspiel-Marke is a German gaming token (for gaming and arcade machines), used mainly in Germany (FRG).
The concentric ring: This embossed ring around the square hole (called Rille in German) is placed with an important mechanical function. Besides reinforcing the metal structure around the hole, it helps the mechanism in the machine to correctly center the token. When the token enters the slot, an internal pawl or rail fits along this concentric groove to confirm that the thickness and relief match the standard exactly. The hole is made for the purpose of mechanical recognition by the coin mechanism of the gaming machine, so that it cannot be replaced with ordinary coins or other tokens.
