Latvia 2 Euro 2025 Historical Regions of Latvia - Selia UNC

The obverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of the Selia region – a silver deer on a red background, a symbol of the historical identity of this area. At the top is the inscription LATVIJA, on the right – the year of issue 2025, and at the bottom – SĒLIJA. The coin was designed by Laimonis Šēnbergs.
The 2 euro commemorative coin, issued in 2025 by Latvia, is dedicated to the Selia region – one of the five historical regions of the country. It completes the series dedicated to the Latvian regions: Vidzeme, Latgale, Kurzeme, Zemgale, and Selia. Selia was recognized as a separate historical region in 2021, and its coat of arms was approved in 2023. The depicted silver deer with its majestic antlers symbolizes pride and natural strength. The coin was minted by the Lithuanian Mint, weight 8.5 g, diameter 25.75 mm, bi-metallic – center of nickel-brass and ring of copper-nickel alloy. Edge inscription: DIEVS ☆ SVĒTĪ ☆ LATVIJU
