Description
Theme: Fire festivals during the summer solstice in the Pyrenees
Description: The fire festivals during the summer solstice were inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015. They are traditional and popular celebrations that are marked en masse every year in Andorra. The coin depicts a human figure called a fallaire (torchbearer), wearing a traditional cloak and drawing a circle of fire in the air with a falla (torch). It is the main element of the festival and consists of tree bark which, once lit, is energetically used to draw large circles of fire in the air. The graphic composition of the lines in the background of the image represents the summer solstice together with the name of the issuing country "ANDORRA" and the year "2023". The outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European Union.
