Theme: "The Year of Art Nouveau", held in 2023 in Belgium

Description: The image shows a decorative detail from the facade of Hotel Van Eetvelde – an iconic townhouse in Brussels designed by the Belgian Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The curved, asymmetrical lines of this decorative detail reflect the characteristic nature-inspired style of the Art Nouveau movement. This detail fills the lower half of the coin, leaving free space in the upper half, which is filled with the inscription "ART NOUVEAU". On the far right are the initials of the designer Iris Bruijns. Since the coins will be minted at the Dutch Royal Mint, the Utrecht mint mark – the staff of Mercury – is placed on the far left together with the mark of the director of the Belgian mint, an aster before an Erlenmeyer flask, the country code – BE, and the year "2023". The outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European Union.
